Mary Alice Orito's art practice dates from the 1970s when she began ink marker drawings of shells and mythical beasties which quickly morphed into a lifetime practice of mixed media. As a graduate of Parsons School of Design, she worked for several decades as a commercial designer in both the garment and entertainment industries.
Ms. Orito served as a two-term president of the prestigious National Association of Women Artists, Inc. In 2019, she retired from her psychotherapy private practice and became an affiliate member of Ceres Gallery and Artsy. She has enjoyed her membership in the Gramercy Neighborhood Association.
